Setting Description This setting features two beautifully cut and matched trillion shape diamonds, one on each side of the center stone. This unique diamond cut has a triangular outline, with a brilliant faceting structure. The diamonds are held securely by prongs, with delicate open gallery work beneath the stones to allow for more light. The outer points of the trillions that taper away from the center diamond are held by V-shaped prongs, which provide protection where the points of the diamond meet the band. The top of the 1.64 mm thick by 2.15 mm wide band pinches in to meet these prongs, then widens towards the back of the finger for stability and comfort. The entire setting is polished to a mirror finish that reflects and enhances the sparkle of the diamonds. This setting combines a unique diamond shape with a classic style to complement the center diamond.
The diamonds in the setting are a minimum of J in color, I1 in clarity. Since the diamonds are in the near-colorless range, they should appear white in the setting. This color should blend well with the color of the center diamond, particularly if the center diamond has a G to J color grade. A center diamond with a D, E, or F color grade may show a slight color difference to the J color diamonds in this setting, but it should not be very noticeable to the casual observer. The I1 clarity grade means that it might be possible to see the internal inclusions in the diamonds with the unaided eye, but it is unlikely that the inclusions would be seen with the diamonds mounted in the setting. The diamonds are well cut, with proportions and polish designed to capture the light and sparkle beautifully in the setting.
This setting is made of platinum, a beautiful and popular precious metal for diamond jewelry. This pure white metal is the ultimate complement to the clear brilliance of diamonds. Platinum is typically 90 to 95% pure platinum, with the remaining percentage being alloys of other platinum group metals such as iridium and ruthenium for surface strength. Platinum does not splinter or wear away easily, making it the most durable choice for everyday wear. It is valued for its extreme rarity and incredible luster. As a precious metal, platinum will naturally patina, or scratch lightly on the surface, but the original bright polished luster can be maintained through an occasional cleaning and polishing.
